Film personality C R Simha passes away

Bangalore: Renowned theatre and film personality C R Simha(72)   passed away on Friday February 28 at Jayanagara Sevakshetra Hospital in the city. Simha who was suffering from prostate cancer  was   in a critical condition for the past five days and had been put on ventilator support.

Simha has acted in over 150 films in Kannada, both commercial and art movies. He was honoured with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi award by the Government of India in recognition of his contribution to the theatre, both as an actor and a director.

Starting his career in Prabhat Kalavidaru, he went on to start his own theatre group called “Nataranga” in 1972 and directed many successful plays like Kakanakote, Tughlaq and Sankranthi.
