Bangalore: Former chief minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy who was subject to constant criticisms from his opponents stating he was being responsible for frequent bye-elections, has however this time saved of the criticisms by suffering a defeat.
Last year when he vacated his Bangalore Rural constituency, he ensured the seat was retained by his party itself in the elections. But, in changed political scenario, the Congress is strong in the district. Had he won from Chikkaballapura, then he would have been held responsible for the bye-elections that needed to be held for Ramanagara seat.
Meanwhile, it is said the JD(S) candidate R Prabhaker Reddy who had contested from Bangalore rural was innocent and that some opportunists who had promised a win had played double game. It is also being said that the JD(S) men fleeced him in this manner and Reddy has been pushed to third position in the elections.
It is being learnt that had Kumaraswamy won form Chikkaballapura, he planned to field his son from Ramanagara assembly constituency which he is now representing. However, this dream of HDK cannot be fulfilled now.
