Mangalore: The CPI(M) has decided to observe a
statewide Bandh on November 7 in order to pressurize the government to
hand over the Sowjanya rape and murder case to the CBI, said G.V.
Srirama Reddy, State Secretary of the party.
Addressing the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on Nvember 5th,
Tuesday, he said that various political parties which ought to fight for justice for the poor are however against the fight for justice in
Sowjanya case. He said the CPI(M) will observe a statewide bandh on
November 7 along with various labour and student organizations.
He said that the CID investigation report in the case was only trying to protect the culprits while making attempts to fix an innocent in the case.
H also said that apart from the Bandh, the party workers will visit every village in the state and sensitize people on the issue. He said a protest march would be flagged off in Sullia on November 21 and a protest will be staged in Mangalore on November 26 urging for CBI investigation.
CPI(M) office bearers KR Shriyan, Lokayya, BR Balakrishna Shetty, Krishnappa Salian and others were present at the occasion.
