New Delhi: The national capital, New Delhi was in a panic as it experienced four earthquakes in a span of four hours early
on Tuesday November 12.
The
first quake, measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale occurred at 12.41 am,
as told by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). They confirmed
that the quiver lasted for three to four seconds.
The IMD said, the epicentre of the quake was centered near Sainik Farms area in South Delhi and happened at a depth of 10 kilometers below the ground.
The second quake was felt at an intensity rate of 3.3 at 1.41 am by Delhi and its adjoining towns of Noida and Ghaziabad. The epicentre of this quake lay further south, centred south-east of Manesar beyond Gurgaon in Haryana.
The last two quakes were measured at 2.5 and 2.8 on the Richter scale and were witnessed at 1.55 am and 3.40 am respectively.
It was learnt that several people rushed out of their houses as they felt the tremors at least four times in the night and were scared.
A local resident said, “I felt the tremors at around 2 am I got scared. When I came out I saw a lot of people gathered outside."
Roshan Lal, another resident, said, “Around 12.30 am, I felt the vibration after which again at around 2 am, I could feel the quivering again thus I rushed out of my house."
