Country celebrates 66th Army day on Jan 15

The Indian Army is celebrating 66th Army Day on Wednesday, reaffirming its pledge to defend the nation against all adversaries, external and within.

The day is celebrated in the honor of army who serve and protects country more than its family. The day carnival goes on with organising parades and other military shows at army command headquarters across the country.

On this day, Lieutenant General K M Cariappa surmounted British Indian Army General Roy Butcher and became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in 1948.

Since then every year the day is dedicated to Indian army, as the day of gala and mirth.

Moreover, the day is also observed to pay tribute to brave jawans who have sacrificed their lives while protecting the nation.
