Gulbarga: As the news of the death of sub-inspector
(SI) Mallikarjun Bande in Hyderabad trickled in, it triggered violence
at several places in Gulbarga city on January 15, Wednesday. The
district administration immediately clamped prohibitory orders in
Gulbarga city, Aland and Jewargi towns under Section 144 CrPC for 24
hours till 1 pm on Thursday January 16.
The
SI who had sustained bullet injuries in his head during an exchange of
fire with a criminal, was in a critical state at the Basaveshwara
Hospital in Hyderabad and had breathed his last on Tuesday night.
A NEKRTC bus was set on fire near Khajuri in Aland taluk, Bande’s home town, and a few vehicles were stoned in Gulbarga. A bandh was also observed in Gulbarga and Aland.
