Mangalore: “Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, is in an illicit relationship with my wife Vinutha Shetty”,alleged Satish Shetty a business man from Mumbai.
In a case registered under the section 143, 147, 149, 341, 506, 507, 49, 7, 120B at Mangalore North police station, Satish has accused his wife of having an extra-marital affair with Nalin Kumar Kateel. A person named Ranjith has also been named in the complaint.
Satish’s Version:
Satish Shetty stated that his wife and the Mangalore MP have been in a relationship for the past one year; he said that he has unearthed all the details of her daily activities through a private investigator. He also has proof from call records, of over 300 calls made by Vinutha to Nalin Kateel.
Claiming his wife to be characterless, Satish said, “Vinutha has openly said it on my face that she is in a relationship with the MP, and has asked me to pay her a crore for the settlement of our divorce.” “However I have kept quiet for so long because I support BJP and such news would slur the party’s image; but a few days ago I have received threats and my life is now in danger, thus I have decided to come out in the open”, he said. He added that “this is not a political conspiracy - I would have come to the media before the election if I intended to create trouble, but I didn’t, as I am a ‘BJP supporter’, he said.
Vinutha’s Version
When Vinutha was contacted she denied the allegations and said, “I have applied for a divorce as Satish had been torturing me for years because of which I have left him.” She also said that she has submitted petitions and registered cases against him for domestic violence and his irrelevant accusation in the High court. An agitated Vinutha claimed that Satish has been harassing her, does not pay for the maintenance for their children and he is a “psycho”.
Nalin Kateel’s denial
The Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel contradicted Satish Shetty sating that that he has no connection to either Satish Shetty or his wife Vinutha Shetty and the all allegations against him are false.
Advocate, P P Hegde had illegally obtained call details of the MP’s cell phone from Bharti Airtel. This information was then used to twist the facts and post materials in Facebook and other electronic media to suggest that Nalin had promised a government job to a lady and sexually exploited her. A photograph of a girl, whose face was not clearly visible, was also posted along with the said material, the MP alleged.
