Mysore: Employees of Mysore KSRTC division aired their
worries about the fitness of the buses a day after the hassan bus
accident, which claimed eight lives on Tuesday.
They claim many buses being run from the division are badly maintained. Mysore division lacks adequate mechanics and the spare parts fitted into the buses are substandard.
Drivers
are demanding that the district authorities to check the fitness of
buses being run in the division, but the employees are not ready to
press for the demand openly, fearing action from higher-ups.They want a
committee to be set up comprising regional transport officials, KSRTC
officials and members of employees union for the purpose.
The employees admit that accidents occur due to negligence of drivers, but the percentage is minimal when compared with those caused due to poor condition of vehicles. Even officials attached to the regional transport offices in different jurisdictions are not strict on the issue as it is government buses and also due to shortage of staff.
