Patna:Six persons were killed and 83 others injured as
seven low-intensity serial blasts rocked Patna on Sunday, six of which
went off in and around the venue of BJP prime ministerial candidate
Narendra Modis mega-rally at the historic Gandhi Maidan here, shortly
before he was due to address the huge gathering, leading to panic in a
section of the crowd.

Meanwhile, the Patna city SP has said that the mastermind, identified as Mohammed Tehseen Akhtar, key aide of Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal, has been arrested.
Amidst many developments, home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde came under fire for attending a music launch event for three hours after the Patna blasts. But he justified his action saying he was in constant touch with the officials.
One suspect, who was in ICU in hospital, succumbed to injuries on Monday morning. The suspect had sustained injuries while planting bombs on Sunday.
The SP also said there were similarities between Gaya and Patna blasts. Even Gaya blasts had occurred on a Sunday, on July 7. Nine serial explosions had rocked the internationally renowned temple town of Bodhgaya, including four in the Mahabodhi Temple complex, injuring two monks in the blasts suspected to be engineered by some terrorist organisation.
Four people were taken into custody, including one who was allegedly running away from a blast site. Police officials claimed that the man, hailing from Ranchi in Jharkhand and yet unidentified, had confessed to having a role in causing the blasts along with three others. A three-member National Investigation Agency team flew into Patna and collected samples from the blast sites to begin a probe along with a team of the National Security Guard, officials said.
