Lucknow : The letter addressed by UPA Chairperson Sonia
Gandhi to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, criticizing the controversial
suspension of Durga Shakti Nagpal, a young IAS Officer from Uttar Pradesh and seeking his intervention in the case, has now kicked off
more debate.
Sonia’s letter
to the PM sought the Centre’s intervention in the Durga case and also
urged for justice to Durga.
Meanwhile, reacting sharply to Sonia’s letter, the Samajwadi Party has said Sonia ought to have even written a letter regarding the illegal land dealings of her son-in-law Robert Wadhra and also the transfer of Ashok Kemka. In fact the Uttar Pradesh government had then taken strong exception to the Ashok Kemka transfer case.
Reacting to the latest development, External Affairs Minister Salman Khushid said the case of suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti can in no way be compared to the Ashok Kemka transfer case.
If Durga Shakti had decided to act tough against the sand mafia in Gowtham Buddha Nagar of Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had suspended her on July 27 on the charges of misuse of power.
