Sandalwood Queen to try her luck in politics

Bangalore :The Congress has fielded south glamour doll Ramya (Divya Spandana) for the Mandya Parliamentary segment by-poll to demolish the Janata Dal (Secular) citadel. Ramya has acted in more than 50 Kannada, Tamil and Telugu movies.

The actress filed her nomination papers on   Saturday in Mandya, the Vokkaliga heartland and the JD-S bastion, in the presence of veteran film star Ambarish, who is also the housing minister in the Congress government.
Ramya is also a Vokkaliga and has a large fan following in south Karnataka. The actress is distantly related to former Union minister S.M. Krishna, who has supposedly backed her candidature. Since the last two years, Ramya has been active in the public domain commenting on issues relating to people and society. She even attended a special session of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee addressed by Rahul Gandhi last time in Bangalore.

However, the actress, who lacks oratory skills, will have a tough time, as she is pitted against a powerful JD-S leader.
