The fixing is not just rampant in cricket. Indias only sportsperson to
win two back-to-back medals in Olympics Sushil Kumar has revealed that
he was asked to lose the 2010 world wrestling championship final bout in
return for cash in Moscow.
According to a report in the Times of
India on Friday, Sushil says a member of his support staff said his
Russian opponent Alan Gogaev "wanted to talk about the bout," just
before the final.
"When he explained the whole thing, I was aghast," Sushil said. Apparently a few crores were on offer but Sushil refused to bite the bait and defeated the Russian 3-1."It was not a matter of two or four crores. It was a matter of honour," Sushil.
